In 2021, Bayer announced the removal of glyphosate-based Roundup from the consumer market by 2023. 3
Hundreds of thousands of Roundup lawsuits have been filed as of May 2022 by consumers claiming Monsanto-Bayers’s weed killer product Roundup has caused cancer. 1 & 3
Plaintiffs have claimed their decade use of Roundup directly resulted in their cancer diagnosis. 1

As of August 2022, only three settlements have been awarded to plaintiffs in Monsanto/Bayer Roundup lawsuits, each having been reduced after judges concluded the original judgment to be “out of step” with legal precedent. 3
The lowest settlement awarded, after being reduced from an appeal, was $20 million. 3
One of the first Roundup lawsuits went to a trial jury where the plaintiff, Dewayne Johnson, a 46-year-old California groundskeeper, who used Roundup for years, won nearly $300 million in damages
Past Roundup WeedKiller Lawsuits
As of September 2022, there have been several lawsuits filed with mixed rulings.
- 2018 Groundskeeper in California won $300 million against Bayer 1 & 3
- May 2019 A couple in California was awarded $2 billion in punitive damages after using Roundup for over 30 years before developing non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma 3
- March 2019 A plaintiff was awarded $80 million in damages after using Roundup for over 25 years before developing non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma 3
- October 2021 The company Bayer won its Roundup verdict in California after a jury found that a child’s development of Burkitt’s lymphoma was not substantially caused by the household use of Roundup 3
- December 2021 Bayer won its second Roundup verdict in California after a jury found the plaintiff’s development of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma was not substantially caused by the household use of Roundup 3
Current Roundup WeedKiller Lawsuits

- 2019 The University of Washington found that glyphosate exposure increases the risk of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma by 41% 1,2 & 3
- 2022 CDC announced that 80% of Americans have traces of Roundup in their urine 1
